Waikato Thoroughbred Racing (WTR) is pleased to announce that Windsor Park Stud has joined the Club’s growing list of sponsors, with the major New Zealand stud signing on to sponsor the Group 3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes in late April.
The race, to be known at the Group 3 Windsor Park Stud Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes is for 3YO over 1200m and will be run on Saturday 26 April for $100,000 under set-weights at Te Rapa Racecourse.
With past winners including Group 1 winner Bonny Lass and multiple stakes-winner Babylon Berlin, this race has become a key target for those seeking valuable black-type success.
WTR Chief Executive Andrew Castles expressed his excitement about the new partnership.
“It’s great to have the support of Rodney Schick and the team at Windsor Park Stud.
“As a race that celebrates Cambridge breeders, it’s very fitting to have a local stud as a sponsor and we’re excited to formalise our long-standing relationship with the Windsor Park Stud team.
“They are one of New Zealand’s most significant players in the breeding industry and Windsor Park principal Rodney’s influence extends beyond breeding into the racing industry through his role on the NZTR Board, so we're delighted to have them onboard.”
Windsor Park Stud principal, Rodney Schick, is pleased to have this association with WTR and a race of stakes calibre.
"We’re excited to sponsor the Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes, a race that holds special significance for us here at Windsor Park.
“As a Group 3 race with a rich history and local importance, it’s a privilege to be involved.
“WTR is a progressive club with a focus on innovation and improvement for the betterment of the whole industry and we’re pleased to support them in this way.
“It’s an ideal fit for us here at Windsor Park Stud.”
The Group 3 $100,000 Windsor Park Stud Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes will be run on Saturday April 26th as a part of Travis Stakes Day. General admission is free for all and tickets are on sale now for the days’ hospitality option.
