WITZ END looks set to justify his favouritism for Saturday’s 1400m open at Te Rapa after rounding his preparation of with easy work on the back sand.

Sent 1000m the Pike trained Savabeel gelding was timed in 1.10.3 the concluding 600m in 41.2.

He was an effortless winner fresh up and looks to have improved with the run. He has won three of his four starts over this distance and despite a wide draw looks a solid winning chance.

Livamol Classic contender DIONYSUS left the 1600m at three quarter pace quickening slighty form the 600m clocked in 40.6.

He has had two runs this campaign and should be competitive at generous odds.

ARABIAN SONGBIRD who could not have been more impressive last outing enhanced weekend chances with nice work over 1400m coming from the 600m in 40.1.

SWEYNESSDAY another James/Wellwood runner with strong claims at Te Rapa completed 1000m the final 600m in 40.6.

INVESTIGATE a good fit for Te Rapa when sent 1000m in 1.10 home in 40.2.

RUDYARD came to the end of 1000m in 1.11.4 and 41.

OVERDRAWN returned 1.8.9 for 1000m sprinting the last 600m in 38.1.

ROEDERER completed a comfortable 1000m in 1.10.6 home in 41.2.

SONNET worked 1000m the concluding 600m in 38.7.

THE CHARM was sent a comfortable 1200m running the last 600m in 40.9.

SUDBINA was clocked an easy 600m in 43.

On a slow no4 grass:

KITTY FLASH strode 1000m in 1.8.6 the 600m in 40.1.

She won well last start and although she faces a stronger field at Te Rapa this Saturday, she should be right in the finish.

MAGNASTAR left 1000m Behind in 1.9 the final 600m in 40.6.

BOSS IN HIGH HEELS and DI MAGGIO were on terms throughout 1000m in 1.9.4 and 40.5.

Front sand:

LADY PAPPYGATE who is at generous odds at Te Rapa traveled sweetly from the 1000m in 1.9.1 home in 41.2.

SPORTING CHANCE returned 1.26 and 41.4 for 1200m.

PACIFICO ran 1000m in 1.11 and 42.7.

Best bet:  WITZ END
