CAMBRIDGE TRACKWORK REPORT
Group One Howden Insurance Mile contender She’s A Dealer looked in super order at Cambridge this morning, working home a quiet 41.8 for her final 600m as she continues her preparation for Saturday’s feature.
The James/Wellwood stable had plenty of runners on the track, with Hasstobeawinner also preparing for a Hastings assignment in Race 2 working home in 41.8. The Foxes @ Novara Park Hawke’s Bay Guineas Contender Excite looked in excellent order, working home in 41.6, while Young Jackson, who will have stable apprentice Abinith Simon aboard for Saturday’s assignment, ran his final 600m in 42.0.
New Zealand Cup hopeful The Precursor worked from the mile, running his final 600m in 41.0, while Hephaestus caught the eye with a slick 39.8.
From the Stephen Marsh stable, Saturday’s Group One Howden Insurance Mile runners El Vencedor and Media World continued their preparations. El Vencedor looked full of running, stopping the clock in 43.2, with Media World close behind in 43.4. Both appear to be in good order heading into the weekend’s feature.
Others from the Marsh team heading south included Frankel gelding Los Salsero, who worked home in 44.1 ahead of Race 1, while Navy Dreams (Race 3) and Erin Go Bragh (Race 4) also recorded 44.1.
Three-year-old filly Perfect Chaos looked in great order ahead of the Group Three HBPB Thoroughbred Breeders Gold Trial Stakes, finishing her work in 43.7. Fellow three-year-old Genie, who lines up in the Group Two The Foxes @ Novara Park Hawke’s Bay Guineas, also impressed, recording 43.7.
Tony Pike’s Hastings contenders Eluid (Race 1) and Frozen Fortune (Race 9) both pleased, running their final 600m in 43.1 and 42.9 respectively.
Pike’s wider team also produced some smart figures, with in-form mare Astoria Brooke stopping the clock in 40.4, while Dunstan Horsefeeds Stayers Championship Final winner Maldini worked home in 40.6. Slipper Island was another to catch the eye with a sharp 39.9, with Camelot gelding Arthur recording 40.7.
Mayday was kept to a quiet 42.9, Del Inquent ran 40.8, while stablemates Quantum Elixr and Quantum Dragon matched strides in 42.9.
Succeszor and Autumn Eve paired up to work home in 39.9, while the final timed gallop of the morning saw The Sancy and Truly Devine finish together in 40.1.
With a strong contingent heading to Hastings, Cambridge’s morning work provided plenty of interest ahead of another big weekend of racing.
