CAMBRIDGE TRACKWORK REPORT
Stephen Marsh brought out a strong hand of gallopers at Cambridge this morning as his team prepares for Saturday’s premier meeting at Hastings.
Frankel four-year-old Los Salsero looked in good order, completing his work in a nicely held 45.3, and appears a nice stayer in the making ahead of Race 2, the Rating 65 2200m.
Race 4 runner Ocean Rules finished her work in 44.7, while Race 5 favourite for the $100,000 Vet Services East Coast Challenge Final, Navy Dreams, looked in super order, cruising through his work in 44.7.
Three-year-old So Fear is set to contest Race 6, the 3YO 1400m, and was given a quiet hit-out, running home in 45.2. Race rival Tip Top completed her work in 44.6.
Australian import Hidden Achievement worked well within himself, running home in 44.9, ahead of his New Zealand debut in Race 7.
Tardelli, who ran a gallant fourth last start in Group One company, looked in good shape as he prepares to tackle Group Three company in Saturday’s Race 8, the Timberspan Spring Sprint, working home in 44.9.
Tony Pike also had plenty of interest on the Cambridge tracks, with several of his gallopers heading to Hastings.
Consistent stayer Eliud is set for the Rating 65 2200m and stopped the clock in a smart 39.4. Satono Aladdin filly Shirase was strongly held through the line, coming home in 42.0 as she prepares for the 3YO 1400m in Race 6.
Recent trial winner Argo looked in good order ahead of Race 7, completing his work in 40.1, while Maldini, who lines up in the final race at Hastings, returned 40.7 for his final 600m.
Heading to Rotorua for Pike, Cosmic Pursuit is set to contest Race 5 and comfortably ran home in 40.4.
Others from the Pike stable included Cannon Hill, who worked home in 41.4, Libre in 40.9, Hervey Bay in a slick 39.2, Pellargo in 39.3, and Mayday in 39.8.
The James/Wellwood team also caught the eye, with Grinzinger Moon impressing as she prepares for Race 7 at the Bay. The six-time winner from just 11 starts returned a slick 37.1 for her final 600m.
Others from the stable included Wootton Bassett three-year-old Excite, who returned 41.1, High Goal in 39.6, and well-performed trial runner Gigi’s Prayer, a daughter of St Mark’s Basilica, who rounded off her work in 40.9.
Young Jackson completed his work in 41.2, while Rotorua-bound Hephaestus worked home in 41.4.
Andrew Forsman brought out a handful of gallopers, with The Weekend joining stablemate Pit Boss and the pair working outstandingly to round off their work in a slick 38.1.
An unnamed Ardrossan/Queen Kamada three-year-old joined stablemate Furston, with the pair returning 39.8, while Wootton Bassett filly Indian Ink matched strides with Sixteen Days, the pair coming home in 39.1.
