CAMBRIDGE TRACKWORK REPORT

Astoria Brooke looks in terrific order as she prepares to chase a hat-trick of wins in this weekend’s Listed Fairview Matamata Kaimai Stakes over the mile. The mare worked off from the 1100m and cruised through her final 600m in 43.2, looking well within herself.

While Astoria Brooke heads to Matamata in search of black type, stablemate Honey Badger will tackle the Group Three Grangewilliam Taranaki Breeders Stakes for fillies and mares at Hawera and caught the eye with a sharp 39.9. Both mares appear in great shape as they chase valuable black type this weekend.

The gelding is building towards his Martin Collins 163rd New Zealand Cup bid and is set to head to Matamata on Saturday as he continues his preparation. Stablemate Roccadonna was kept quieter, completing her work in 43.9.

Stephen Marsh had a quieter morning with a handful of gallopers across the sands. On the back sand, Tardelli, last seen finishing a gallant fourth in the Group One Proisir Plate, looked in excellent order when running a slick 39.2.
