Group One Livamol Classic Contender She’s A Dealer reeled off some impressive work on the front plough this morning as she continues her preparation for Saturday’s feature. The five-year-old mare by Ace High worked home her final 600m in a sharp 37.0, and already a Group One winner, she looks in excellent order as she bids to add another elite-level victory to her record.
There was plenty of quality among the other James/Wellwood gallopers on the front plough. Five-time winner Arabian Songbird who is due to tackle Saturdays Group Three Sprint worked home in 38.7, while December continues to come to hand nicely, finishing in 39.3. Promising galloper Grinzinger Moon looked fantastic before his weekend assignment stopping the clock with a slick 37.2, while Proisir mare Fairy Dream came home in 40.4. Incandescent looked in great order preparing for his weekend assignment at Hastings finishing off in 40.1, while Hephaestus, working over ground, completed his work in 42.5 and is due to start at Rotorua on Sunday. Almanzor mare Ariadne was kept quiet, running home in 42.0, while HKJC World Pool NZ Derby winner Road To Paris created plenty of interest, galloping a quiet 700m in 44.1.
The Odyssey, trained by Ben & Ryan Foote, looked extra sharp on the back sand as he prepares for this weekend’s Group One Livamol Classic. Galloping alongside stablemate Rosina, the pair returned a slick 37.5. Recent trial winners Grand Capitalist and Delete Delete were also prominent, with the pair returning 37.9, both hold a nomination for Rotorua on Sunday in the 3yo 1215m.
On the back sand, the Crawford-trained duo Swiss Light and Romantic Patch completed their work in 39.8, while Dean Wiles produced Steel Warrior and Smooth Warrior on the front plough, with the pair working home in 39.6.
Tony Pike had a busy morning with a strong team on the front plough. Dunstan Horsefeeds Championship Final winner Maldini looked in great order as he readies to open is spring campaign on Saturday at the bay, running home in 39.8, while Almanzor gelding Argo, a Group Two placegetter last season and recent trial winner, worked quietly in 41.4 he is set to race on Saturday at the bay. Tarzino filly Grocer’s Girl looked particularly sharp, stopping the clock in 38.9.
Eliud who is looking to go one better on Saturday ran home in 40.8, while last-start winner and Hasting’s bound Shirase joined stablemate Frozen Fortune (Rotorua Sunday), with the pair returning a slick 38.3, Song Of Valour joined Rubidium, a recent trial winner by El Roca, with the pair coming home in 38.8. Cosmic Pursuit, ran home quietly in 40.6 as he gets ready for Rotorua on Sunday.
Taupo runner’s Starlit Express cruised home in 40.8, In The Vineyard in 39.1, while US Navy Flag three-year-old Admiral Vos looked fantastic, returning 39.1, Recent Shamexpress trial winner Intan worked home in 40.1, while Per Incanto three-year-old filly Via Fontanella returned 38.9.
Stephen Marsh also produced a sizeable team; with his sand gallopers headed by Vet Services East Coast Challenge Final contender Navy Dreams. The four-year-old son of Merchant Navy looks in great order for Saturday’s 100k race running home in 40.3. Four-time winning Ardrossan mare Ardalio also worked well, clocking 40.3, while Whanganui Guineas winner Perfect Chaos who is nominated to take on the older horses at WFA company on Sunday as well as the 3yo 1215m rounded off her work in 39.7. Oberon finished in 40.5, with Tip Top and Ocean Rules working individually and both returning 41.0.
Other Marsh sand gallopers included Our Solana in 40.9, Alacritous in 40.5, Assassina (Rotorua Sunday) in 40.9, Adamantia in 40.3 and Imperial Rose in 42.3.
The Marsh plough team featured plenty of quality, with Group One performers Media World and Tardelli working home in 40.1 and 40.3 respectively. Queen Zou rounded off her work in 39.9 all 3 are headed to Hastings for the Group Three Timberspan Spring Sprint, while Australian Group One Performer Hidden Achievement, the entire son of I Am Invincible, caught the eye with a slick 39.8 as he prepares to make his New Zealand debut on Saturday.
Joining the star-studded plough gallopers, Erin Go Bragh who heads to Rotorua on Sunday worked home in 39.9, So Fear in 40.5, Frankel gelding Los Salsero in 41.3, and Unmistakable was kept quiet, finishing in 41.7 as she gets ready for Sundays Race at Rotorua.
